Bail reduced for accused tyre thief

Christopher Thomas, STAR Writer

WESTERN BUREAU:

A St James man held with stolen tyres and rims had his bail reduced in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court.

Tajay Box, charged with receiving stolen property, had his $200,000 bail reduced to $100,000. He returns to court tomorrow.

Box was found with a set of 16-inch tyres and rims stolen from a man.

The court was not told when the theft occurred. However, it was disclosed that Box had not taken up his bail.

"Why didn't you take up the bail?" Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tie asked.

"The bank I am with, it is with me and my mother, and she is overseas at this time," Box answered.

"So you have nobody else who can bail you?" Tie inquired.

"I have my brother, who is trying," Box replied.

The court was also informed that photographs of the stolen items were not yet on the prosecution's file.

"Sir, I am going to reduce the bail offer to $100,000. Three persons can bail you," Tie told Box.
