York Town residents demonstrate ABDUCTIONS

The abduction of two women in York Town, Clarendon, by gunmen in separate incidents, only days apart, triggered protests by residents in the south western Clarendon community yesterday morning.

One woman was abducted from her home on Saturday night and the other by armed men last Tuesday. Their identities were not received up to news time last night.

Residents blocked roads in the community from 8 a.m. to demonstrate their anger with their political representatives, who they said have not been seen since the recent breakout of violence.

The roadblocks were eventually dismantled and the police have been maintaining a strong presence in the area. The investigators have, however, remained tight-lipped on the abductions.
