Garfield McKenzie's baptism

Garfield McKenzie

GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer

The Bible instructs man to repent and be baptised for the remission of his sins. Well, that was exactly what newly added member at the Sanguinetti New Testament Church of God in Clarendon Garfield McKenzie did recently in preparation for the return of Christ.

McKenzie, who is from Peckham district in the parish, and who surrendered his life to the Lord and was baptised, told THE STAR's Life and Times that God has done a lot for him and that he is very grateful, hence surrendering to Him is gratitude for all He has done for him.

"I told God that whenever I reached 26 years old, I was going to start serving Him. Six years passed after I reached 26. I have just surrendered to Him at age 32. In September, I will be 33. I am grateful for the many years He has given to me thus far. I believe that it is the right time now to serve God," testified McKenzie.

He made it clear that since being baptised by pastor at the Sanguinetti New Testament Church the Reverend Donald Dawson, he is now feeling better. In fact, McKenzie pointed out that he now feels "nice".

Holy Spirit

"I feel so good. God is now ready for me. He has spoken to me several times. The Holy Spirit has really fallen down on me, and I am feeling so good in my soul. The Holy Spirit has revealed to me that God is real and that now is the right time to serve Him," said McKenzie.

He shared that prior to being baptised, he was unable to feel the Holy Spirit. However, all that has changed since he surrendered to his Maker because according to him, he is now feeling the Holy Ghost in his everyday living. In fact, he disclosed that he is now feeling free like a bird in a tree.

Since being baptised, McKenzie said he now feels like he has just started living. He added that prior to being saved and baptised, his life was empty, but now there is fulfilment in his soul. He also made it clear that he has no intention of letting go of God because he is now totally connected to Him.

In an effort to remain saved, McKenzie pledged to stay around the good people of God, practise doing the correct things, stay far from wrongdoing, pray, read his Bible more and fast. He stressed that God has been good to him and that he has no plans of letting Him down.

"God has been really good to me. Several times I should have passed away, but thanks to the mercy of God, I am still alive," he said.

He wants all those who have not started their Christian walk with God to do so before it is too late because the coming of the Lord is nearer than we think.
