McCorory insists she's not worried about Felix's decision

LONDON, England:

Still waiting to hear if she will be given the opportunity to compete in the 400 metres at next month's IAAF World Championships in Beijing after missing out on an automatic qualifying spot, American quarter-miler Francena McCorory insists that she will be satisfied with her season regardless of the decision taken.

Despite posting a world-leading 49.85 in the previous round at the US Outdoor Championships in June, McCorory finished outside of the top three and outside of an automatic qualifying spot in the final, taking fourth place in 50.88 seconds.

The event was won by 200 metres specialist Allyson Felix, who now has to decide whether to take her spot in the 400metres or activate her wild card entry in the 200 metres after winning the half lap event in last season's Diamond League series.

Felix also has the option of doubling at the World Championships, but has already poured cold water on that possibility, leaving McCorory's involvement in the 400 metres dependent on her preference between the two events.

McCorory, who won her last race in a new world leading time of 49.53 in Monaco, told STAR Sports she is not losing sleep over Felix's decision.

"I am just continuing to focus on myself," McCorory said. "It's still been a good season regardless of what happens next. God has still blessed me to have the fastest time in the world and I just ran another one and so I am happy with how things are going either way."

"It was definitely important for me to get back on the track and compete after what happened at the US Nationals. I went back home and I trained really hard for two weeks so I just wanted to come out and execute what I have been working on," said McCorory.
