National junior record holder Jaheel Hyde has called a halt to his 2015 season. A release from the 18-year-old's management company yesterday stated that he had been advised by his doctor to end his season in order to "rest, recuperate and recover from fatigue and soreness of the muscles" following "an unusually lengthy 2014 season". Hyde, reigning world junior champion did not compete in the 400m hurdles at the National Championships some weeks ago, but was selected for the national team for the Pan American Junior championships in toronto, Canada, later this month. "Jaheel did not compete in the finals of the 400 hurdles at the JAAA National Senior Trials, due to an aggravated hamstring. After treatment and therapy, the prognosis favoured the decision to end the season and refresh for a greater 2016 return" the release continued. The athlete, who set a new national record in the event at the Inter-Secondary, Schools Sports Association Boys and Girls Championships in March, has been withdrawn from the PanAm Games team. "Hyde wishes to thank the JAAA for selection to the Pan American Jnr Championships, LIME, other sponsors, his coaching staff, well-wishers and all who supported him, unwaveringly. Hyde and his management team look forward to this continued support and an awesome 2016", the release said. |
