A man who went to the workplace of his ex-girlfriend and stabbed her repeatedly was fined $50,000 or one year imprisonment on Monday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

Charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and robbery is 24-year-old Theodore Legg.

He pleaded guilty to the charges and sought the mercy of the court.

"Everybody deserves a second chance," said Legg.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey said, "I think you should go to jail for it."

The court was told that on the day in question, Legg, who was in a relationship with the complainant, attacked her at her workplace, stabbed her on the leg and robbed her of her handbag.

Legg said, "She inflict wound to me also."

He was fined $20,000 or six months for the robbery and $30,000 or six months for wounding.

A fingerprint order was also made against Legg.
