Two St James women, who were arrested earlier this year after they reportedly got into a fight concerning the boyfriend of one of the women, had their bail extended when they came before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Diana Robinson is charged with assault at common-law committed against Shauna-Lee Johnson, who, in turn, is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

The allegations are that, on March 10, Robinson tried to stab Johnson with a screwdriver, while Johnson retaliated and used an object to hit Robinson under her left eye.

The court was told that the alleged incident took place after Johnson called a taxi driver, who is Robinson's babyfather, to pick her up. Robinson reportedly told the man not to carry Johnson, and when Johnson entered the vehicle, Robinson attacked her, following which Johnson retaliated.

When Resident Magistrate Natalie Hart-Hines suggested that Robinson and Johnson could attend mediation sessions to settle their differences, the women rejected the suggestion.

The matter was subsequently set for mention on July 23 and the women had their bail extended.
