An ex-soldier was shot and killed in Land Settlement district, Manchester, yesterday. Reports are that 65-year-old Basil Nembhard was shot in his chest around 9:30 p.m. while in his shop.

Residents said they heard explosions, then saw a man running from the scene. Nembhard died while undergoing treatment at the Mandeville Hospital shortly before midnight.

The Mandeville Criminal Investigation Bureau said that no robbery took place and no motive has been established for the murder. Investigations into the homicide are still ongoing.
