Raheem Sterling's party gets early lock-off

Shereita Grizzle, STAR Writer

On Saturday, the highly anticipated summer party, Summer Splash: Foam Edition, hosted by Jamaican-born Liverpool footballer, Raheem Sterling, ended before it even got under way.

Set for Reapers Road in his hometown of Maverley, St Andrew, the party was shut shortly after 11 p.m. after police seized the sound system.

News reaching the STAR is that the party promoters had not secured a permit to host the event, which resulted in the police seizing the equipment.

Police personnel from the St Andrew South police division who were on the scene, confirmed that the event had ended prematurely because there was no permit.

However, some residents spoke out in disappointment at what they said was bias on the part of the police. One male resident said the only reason the party was turned off by the police was because Sterling was associated.

"A regular party keep bout the place without permit, a just true a Sterling, and dem probably did a look fi eat a food, dem dweet," he said.

the police officer however, added that the decision was not connected to Sterling's status or association with the party. Another resident defended the police, stating that it was a big blunder made by the party promoters.

"The police just a do dem job. dem (the party promoters) shoulda go bout things the right way, cause if them did have dem papers police couldn't lock it off," she said.

The party had been the talk of the area for weeks. residents were expecting the turnout to be even bigger than last year's inaugural staging.
