Overseas-based reggae artiste Collie Buddz will be featured in Nick Cannon's film, 'King of The Dancehall'.

The film was inspired by Jamaican culture. Collie Bubz said, along with his acting gig, he is looking to improve his presence in Jamaica as well release new projects.

His last hit record in Jamaica was Come Around, in 2009, when he was globetrotting with his music.

"We've just been touring hard the last few years in the states and Europe. To be honest, I don't get to Jamaica enough and that is something I'm planning on changing very soon. I have to be in JA more, and make records that can fit in the juggling more, and stay up on how the scene is moving," he said.

The artiste said his last trip to Jamaica was to participate in the filming of Nick Cannon's movie, which is not a directly related to his career, as a musician, but in another capacity as an actor.

"I never met Nick before the first day of shooting. We linked up through a mutual friend, DJ Buhdda, who called me, while I was on tour in Europe, and asked if I wanted to be a part of the film. I told him, 'Are you smoking rocks? Please ask me another dumb question. Of course I wanna be a part of the film.' And, the next thing I know I'm on a flight to Jamaica, script in hand," he said.

Collie Buddz is also promoting a new EP, Blue Dreamz, which alludes to his practice of marijuana smoking, much like Come Around. The EP will feature six songs with the title track conveniently called Blue Dreamz.

EP promotion

The EP is being promoted as a warm-up to his sophomore album due out in late 2015.

"We decided to release it now to catch a lil piece of summer, and carry my Jamaican fans and international fans through fall until the album comes out," he said.

The singer was recently the first reggae artiste to be booked for UK's Wireless Festival. He also has plans to dabble with dancehall and is set to release Like Yuh Miss Me, produced by Johnny Wonder.

His last successful album, Collie Buddz, was released in 2007. It peaked at number 68 on the Billboard top 200 Album chart, selling more than 10,000 copies in its first week.
