Corey of Merital family finally laid to rest

After waiting for weeks to have a funeral, due to the delay in an autopsy, the family of Derrick Edwards, 'Corey', finally laid him to rest last the weekend.

The funeral for the popular Montego Bay-based deejay was held on Saturday, church service at Emmanuel Chapel, in Montego Bay. His body was interred in the family plot, Top Hill, Mount Carey St James.

The deejay was shot and killed on May 7, as he exited a gaming lounge in Ironshore in the parish.

Since his death, there has been unease in the Flankers community from where he originated.

Corey, along with DJ Keneil and Blade Skeemaz, gained popularity in 2009 with hit songs, My Money Ha Ha, and Let's Pray, while a part of Vybz Kartel-led Portmore Empire.

They split from the Portmore Empire to pursue solo careers.
