Reggae can stop terrorism ... says Shaggy

Shereita Grizzle, STAR Writer

Reggae and dancehall artiste Shaggy has been making headlines in the international media following statements he made about terrorist group ISIS (The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria).

According to several online sources, the entertainer told the Miami New Times that music could possibly hold the key to ending ISIS's reign. In the interview, the Boombastic singer, whose real name is Orville Richard Burrell, said his music could eliminate the threat of ISIS.

"If you're able to cut a man's head off, you're sick," he said. "But, music evokes emotion. So if they're listening to Shaggy music or reggae music, they're not going to want to cut somebody's head off."

Born from an especially brutal al Qaeda faction, ISIS has grown from relative obscurity in recent years to overshadow its extremist patrons. It now terrorises large swaths of Syria and Iraq, and its public, cold-blooded execution of multiple Westerners has dominated the news the world over. Thousands of persons have also been killed by the group.

But Shaggy's interview has already been re-posted by the Huffington Post, MTV UK and the UK's Daily STAR. Shaggy said his music was all about love and could possibly alter the mindset of terrorists.

"There's two things you want to do when you listen to reggae: You get somebody pregnant or you're fng high," he explained. "High people don't want to kill nothing; they want to love. They need to bag some Jamaican weed and distribute it among ISIS. I guarantee there won't be any more wars out there ... and throw some Bob Marley up in there and there'll be peace."

The online sources also stated that Shaggy previously had a career in the military, serving with a firing battery from the 10th Marine Regiment during the Gulf War.
