Tsetsi 'Lights Out' Davis and Richard 'Frog' Holmes will clash tonight in the second semi-final of the Wray and Nephew Contender series at the Chinese Benevolent Association auditorium on Old Hope Road in St Andrew.

The middleweight bout will be over eight rounds.

Tonight's winner will face the impressive Kemahl Russell, who booked his spot in the July 11 final with a unanimous decision over Devon Moncriffe last Wednesday. Action in the main bout starts at 9.30 and will be televised by TVJ. This bout will be preceded by two amateur bouts, starting at 8.30.

Davis, a two-time Contender finalist, has looked good so far in the series. He scored impressive victories over Christopher 'Shaka' Henry from Barbados by technical knockout and Jamaican Ricardo Planter on points. Seeded at the No. 2 position in the competition, Davis, who is 37 years of age, is an aggressive fighter and boasts a 14-4 record. He has scored four knockouts and has been stopped twice.

A small cut he suffered in training two weeks ago has healed properly and he is ready for action tonight.

Speaking with STAR Sports recently, he said: "I have been doing a lot of running and sparring a lot of rounds in the gym, so I am very fit," he declared.

The 27-year old Holmes, who is the No. 3 seed in the competition, has a 9-4 record, with five knockouts. He had a shaky start in his first fight against Charwin Estwick but looked much sharper while taking out Guyanese Derick Richmond by way of a fifth-round technical knockout in the quarter-finals. The word from his camp is that he has also been working hard on his physical fitness and will be prepared for eight rounds if necessary.

Davis will test Holmes very early and the first few rounds promise to be very competitive. All the indications are that it will be a close and exciting fight and that both men will be aggressive throughout the encounter.
