Counsellor remanded for allegedly having sex with 14-y-o

A counsellor who is charged with having sex with a person under the age of 16 years old was remanded when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

The man, whose job is to counsel youths, was ordered remanded by Resident Magistrate Natalee Brooks.

The Crown alleges that the 14-year-old complainant was lured by the accused who took her to a location in St Andrew where he molested her.

It was also revealed that the accused had a previous relationship with a family member of the complainant.

He started to stalk the complainant who revealed what occurred.

The complainant reported the matter to the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse.

He was subsequently charged by the police.
