Two charged for stealing food get court date

WESTERN BUREAU:

Two St James men who were arrested last month under allegations that they stole a number of food items will be tried in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on August 21.

Howard Thorpe and Randy Litchmore are charged with simple larceny. They had their bails extended when they appeared in court on Wednesday.

The court was told that on May 22, Thorpe and Litchmore were arrested and charged after they reportedly attempted to steal food items, including seasoning, potato sticks and biscuits.

It was also disclosed that the prosecution's case file was ready for the matter to go to trial.

Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tie subsequently set the case to be heard on August 21, at which time the two defendants are to be tried separately.

"You are both to return here on August 21. If you have witnesses, take your witnesses here on that day," RM Tie told Thorpe and Litchmore.
