Jamaican in Guyana charged

André Williams, STAR Writer

A Jamaican man who has been residing in Guyana for about three years has been charged with attempted murder of an ex-policeman.

He has since been identified as Rovin Mickey McLean, otherwise called Jamaky.

According to www.kaieteurnewsonline.com McLean, 41, of Lot 103 'B' Independence Avenue, Rose Hall Town, is accused of attempting to murder ex-policeman turned businessman, Ravi Outar.

The incident allegedly took place on Wednesday, June 10, 2015.

Execution attempt

McLean appeared before Magistrate Maurica Mittleholzer at the Albion Magistrate's Court where he was remanded until June 29.

The 29-year-old ex-cop was shot four times in an apparent execution attempt at his home and business premises. He remains in a critical, but stable condition, at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

Reports are that the ex-policeman recognised the shooter and told investigators who his attacker was.

Further reports are that Outar and an overseas-based businessman had some misunderstanding and it is alleged that the shooting stemmed from that issue.

McLean allegedly lives on the premises owned by the overseas businessman and was allegedly the driver of the getaway car.
