Detectives from the St Andrew South police have charged 20-year-old Mark Curtis, otherwise called 'Orda', of Majesty Gardens, Kingston 11, with illegal possession of firearm and the murder of 38-year-old Jermain Peterkin.

Reports are that on Saturday, May 31, 2015, about 8:10 a.m., Peterkin, a security guard of Longville Park in Clarendon, was shot dead on Marcus Garvey Drive, Kingston 11, while he was walking along the roadway.

Following investigations, Curtis was arrested and charged last week Thursday.

Police said he is scheduled to appear before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Gun Court at Half-Way Tree, St Andrew, today.
