Recommitting my life to God

Tarique Jones

GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer

Tarique Jones got saved five years ago and was baptised. However, he decided that he wanted a second dip in the pool, and so he was re-baptised recently again at the Sanguinetti New Testament Church of God in Clarendon.

He told The STAR's Life & Times that his decision to get baptised a second time came because he saw the need to recommit his life to the Lord.

"I was sinning a lot. I was listening to dancehall music and other stuff; and I decided that I needed a change in my life so that I could be in good stead with God," said Jones.

He confessed that before he recommitted his life to the Lord, he felt insecure and burdened like how a real sinner is supposed to feel. Jones added that he felt as if he did not belong in the church prior to his recent baptism. But now that he has done the sacred act, he feels much better.

"I now feel renewed and it is as if something just washed away all my sins and I am a new man. I now have a new start and a new beginning. The feeling of being a Christian is now so strong within me, because I am now doing the right things which the Lord wants me to do," testified Jones.

Jones lamented that in an effort to continue doing the things which God wants him to do, and to maintain his Christianity, he will be attending church as often as possible, read his bible regularly, pray without ceasing and ask God to help him not to re-enter the world of sin.

"God has really changed my life. He has given me a new beginning and a new time to start. I am happy that I have got a chance to recommit my life to better my chance of entering Heaven," said Jones.

As for those who are not yet saved, Jones wants them to understand that nothing is wrong with them turning away from their sinful ways and surrender to the Lord. He is calling on them to drop the bad habits which can prevent them from entering into eternal life with Jesus Christ, when He returns to take His children home with Him.

He wants those who are already saved to understand that they have a responsibility to hold on to Jesus and not allow the pleasures of the world to distract them. He said it is incumbent on them to remain with the Lord because the Christian life is the best life for mankind.
