Newland Explosion to bring the party vibes

The communities in Portmore are bracing for the eagerly anticipated musical event dubbed Newland Explosion on June 27.

"This is the first year that the show is being held and everybody ah look forward to the event. People all want mi to move the venue from Taylor's Lawn to put it on the football field because dem think it ah go too big, but ah the first year; mi a tek time gwaan build it," an enthusiastic Fyah Ras, the promoter, said.

The dance will feature music by Stone Love, Boom Boom, Flava Unit, Bumpy Cash and 6 Killa.

"Who caan hold inna the lawn haffi go stay outta door and talk bout it," he said, laughing.

He is expecting a huge crowd. "It's going to be a great party vibes; nuff artiste ah go pass through. Bounty Killer, Sizzla, Popcaan ah go give me a strength, it ah go mad with Magnum bucket deals all night and Boom energy drink ah give me a strength as well," the selector, born Shalako Allen, said.

Fyah Ras is one of the leading selectors from the Stone Love sound system and he has carved out a reputation for his vibesy juggling and sample phrases. He has represented Stone Love all over the world in places like the UK, the Caribbean, the USA, Asia, and European countries like Switzerland and Spain and even Israel.

"Next year, Newland Invasion ah go even bigger, with a title sponsor and everything," he said.
