Though his team missed out on the $300,000 grand prize and the national title, striker Komar Wilson walked away with the Digicel Golden Boot award after scoring an unmatched seven goals in the Guinness Street Football competition.

The 21-year-old could hardly contain his delight at winning the $50,000 cash prize, calling it one of the major highlights of his life to date.

"I'm joyful about this, I'm very happy," said Wilson. "It feels very good to be highlighted for my achievement. As you know, any form of highlight is always a good thing for young footballers because you never know who's watching and what kind of opportunities might be out there for you. That's what winning this prize does for me today."

The Harbour View native added, "This prize definitely does a lot for me and my community. We came here to win the championship today, but unfortunately, we never made it; but that's just football - you always aim to win, but sometimes, you don't, and you just have to learn from your mistakes. At the end of the day, we still go home today with something to show for our efforts."

St Catherine-based team, Slash Dash, emerged the champions of the National Finals held at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in Arnett Gardens on Sunday.

They will go on to represent Jamaica at the Regional Finals of the tournament, which will be held in Kingston on June 27 and 28.
