Rugby Club Championship heats up

Round two action of the Jamaica National Rugby Club Championship has set the stage for an intriguing, exciting upcoming weeks as defending champions G.C. Foster College Lions and beaten finalists Liguanea Dragons wowed with an exciting 18-18 draw on Saturday, at G.C. Foster College.

G.C. Foster enjoyed the better run of play in the first half by way of a 14-8 lead, but the Dragons stormed back in the second half for a share of the points.

Player/coach Marlando Anderson scored two tries for G.C. Foster, while Liguanea's centre, Russell McPherson, led his team's comeback with three tries.

Also on Saturday, Duhaney Park Sharkes rallied defeated cross-town rivals Vauxhall Vultures 28- 11, at the Vauxhall High School.

It was their second straight win, courtesy of Khamisi McKain, who had two tries, while veteran Roy Calvert contributed eight points through kicks.

On Sunday, Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) marshaled to a convincing 22-12 win over Spanish Town Vikings.

It was the military men's first point of the season, with hard-running centre Ethon Dwyer scoring a hat-trick.

High competition

With interest piqued and high level competition running, round three games can be expected to be hot this Saturday.

Vauxhall Vultures host Spanish Town Vikings at Vauxhall High School at 4pm.

Up Park Camp will feature a massive double header between G.C. Foster College Lions and Duhaney Park Red Sharks at 2pm.

Home team, JDF will lock horns with Liguanea Dragons at 4pm.

Duhaney Park lead the pack with six, followed by G.C. Foster Lions four, while JDF and Vauxhall tie on three points, respectively.

Liguanea Dragons and Spanish Town Vikings are bottom with one point each.
