Cop nabbed for possession of ganja

A 43-year-old police constable who was arrested along the Palisadoes main road for possession of ganja was denied bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Charged with possession of, dealing in, taking steps to export, and trafficking ganja is Robert Roach. He was fingerprinted.

The Crown alleges that on June 7, shortly after 8 a.m., the constable, who is attached to the Kingston Central Police Division, was stopped near the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.

His motorcar was searched and 14 parcels of compressed marijuana wrapped in masking tape and transparent bags were found. A large quantity of cash was also found.

He was arrested and charged. A mention date has been set for June 19.
