Lawyer's Account Hacked, Nude Pics Tweeted

Bjorn Burke, Staff Reporter

Tongues are beginning to wag, following posts made on popular online social networking service Twitter, after tweets of a graphic nature surfaced from the account of United States-based Jamaican law professor David Rowe.

Tweeted from the Jamaica-born law professor's account were two separate posts, both graphic in nature. One of the sexually explicit images is of a woman's breast, while the other shows a woman's genitals.

When THE STAR contacted Rowe, he stated that he was not aware of the posts made to the account, but stated that he is an active user of the social media networking site Facebook. He added that he users Twitter sparingly, only to retweet articles relating to his profession, religion, and political issues.

The esteemed lawyer further explained that he has had his Facebook account and personal email account hacked in the past. He was also adamant that he plans to close his Twitter account pending further investigation.

Rowe stated that he is of the opinion that any lewd material posted from his account was a deliberate effort made by malicious persons in an attempt to discredit him.

Rowe maintained that he would not be a part of the posting of any pornographic material, stating that the account was without doubt hacked.

The response on Twitter was instantaneous. Some Twitter users found the online blunder amusing, while others did not appear to be particularly amused, with one posting: "Trying to understand what big big @DavidRoweEsq just tweeted. Like...lawyer and so?!"

Rowe is a criminal defence and immigration lawyer who has provided commentary on numerous local issues. He has also served as an adjunct law professor at the University of Miami School of Law since 1989.
