Dub Love delivers at Redbones

Lutan Fyah

The staging of Dub Love, a greatly anticipated show, was a critical success, judging by the reaction of patrons who attended the roots dub show at Redbones recently.

Dub poet Meeka 'Pocket Rocket' Nyota was simply brilliant as she wowed with her metaphors and slick rhymes on pieces such as 'Moon Pan Stick'. Another high point was a duet with Ginsue where Meeka's compliments about the male physique caused even the most confident males to blush.

Steppa Famous, a disc jockey from SunCity Radio, delivered razor-sharp lyrics and stressed the care and protection of children, a poignant topic that resonated with the audience.

The main act, Lutan Fyah, delivered a compelling performance, reminding the audience why rasta, dub and reggae are synonymous with our culture. He earned forwards for songs like St Jago de La Vega, Save the Juveniles and numerous others from his impressive catalogue.

He was backed by the outstanding Reggae Rebel band. Special props went to Vivian Thomas of PAY Productions, the organisers of the event.

It was a great night of dub, reggae and poetry, and patrons and sponsors alike are already looking forward to the next edition.
