Locally made cleaner a hit at home

O'Sullivan's Manufacturing, the company which makes the Tangy Clean, Stain Blaster and Slick car-cleaning products, was one of the organisations displaying and demonstrating its products at last Wednesday's launch of the Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association (JGRA) Road Safety Month activities. The company's principals said they feel accomplished to be a part of Road Safety Month 2015 - a feeling that was no doubt enhanced because the launch was held practically in their backyard at Angel's, outside Spanish Town, St Catherine.

"It is Spanish Town that we are based and, to have this positive energy, it is indeed a dream come true, " said chief executive officer Lynden O'Sullivan.

During the launch, O'Sullivan's cleaning products found their way on to the surfaces of most of the vehicles which were driven on to the premises of Fesco Service Station. There were numerous practical demonstrations on how effective the all-purpose cleaner is.

The company's involvement in the JGRA campaign goes well beyond launch day. "We will be donating part proceeds to the road safety campaign, as we know that it is very important to save lives. So it is a privilege for us to be here, " O'Sullivan emphasised.

He said that the company's newest product is the natural, oil-based Slick, which is a headlight and tyre cleaner. Camille O'Sullivan said the six-month-old Slick has complemented the previously developed Stain Blaster.

During the product demonstrations, many motorists remarked about the Stain Blaster and Slick's effectiveness. "These products are very natural and they clean and sheen very well. When I came here my lights were stained, now look how clean they are," Elizabeth Moncrieffe said.

The company has come a long way in a short time. In March this year Automotives, The Sunday Gleaner's auto section, reported about the O'Sullivan's business efforts. Then, Lyndon O'Sullivan said that they had started out in December 2013 at home in Willowdene, St Catherine, adding "it is encouraging to know that our initiative has made so many people happy".

Speaking about the difficulties of starting from scratch, the couple said in the earliest stages there were many days when they gathered various ingredients to make the products while they were hungry, but were determined to carve out a niche in the cleaning-solution market.
