'Puppy Tail' draw crowd

It's always amusing just how quickly people will gather around for some form of excitement, but not for what's informative and beneficial to them.

So Saturday I happen to roll through a likkle soft launch at Heritage Mall in Spanish Town and mi say I laugh till I nearly roll over! Tell me supm, is who come up with the dance call 'Puppy Tail'?

Bwoy, anybody who did my hats off to you 'cause I swear unuh know how fi tun people inna real poppy show. lmao! Not in a bad way either because the dance is very entertaining, and Jamaicans always know how to put their own creative twist to everything.

I watched people come and go the whole time, but what really drew them out and to a stand still was when the MC announced that there was a phone giveaway for who could do the best puppy tail dance. Now, of course, people were unwilling at first to compete, not 'cause they don't want the phone but simply gave excuse like:

"Mi cya dance!"

"Mi too shy or mi fraid!" Afraid of what, I don't know!

One girl she said, "mi cya dance inna pants!" Lol! She did her thing but she actually run go home, put on a skirt and came right back. I thought she would tear the place down, but she could have just kept the pants on as she didn't do any better with the skirt.

Others wanted to know what kind of phone they were getting, to see if it was worth shaking their tail; while some just clearly wanted to be a banwagonist. They had to watch and see how the other competitors perform before they decide if they wanted to run een!!

One lady that entered left her salon with a customer sitting in the chair, just to come be a part of the competition. What was funny was when she exclaimed, "Mi a go dance but mi cya stay, mi customer ah wait pon mi, so hurry up; and even if mi nuh win, just give mi a phone same way!" Dwl!

The crowd got larger; so did the competition and the shouts as they cheered on the dancers.

One girl name Keeba seemed like she would take the competition (I only remember her name cause it unusual and the name fit her to - unuh don't ask me what me mean, figure it out. lol!) But that was until this petite girl in red and blue stole the attention. She had a whole lot of energy and attitude and the crowd was raving for her. She was one of the first people who claimed she couldn't dance, but here she was leading the competition.

Competition was heated and the crowd was raving it was time to find a winner. But then, shouts came from upstairs the mall that one more wanted to enter and, of course, the MC gladly welcomed her. Now, this lady, when you looked at her, she is the replica if what you deemed decent. You would never think she would even do di the Puppy Tail dance - and that's the surprise that hit everyone.

Anyway, she came and she conquered. She took it up a notch when she went on her head top, and that was it right there!! Yup! Competition done!

Until next week, people. Gossip Chica say bless up unuh self!
