Goat thief pleads guilty |
|||||
A man accused of stealing a ram goat pleaded guilty when he appeared in the Linstead Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. He is Ricardo Gibbs, a 32-year-old labourer of Glengoffe district, St Catherine. When Gibbs appeared before Resident Magistrate Anmarie Nembhard, he pleaded guilty to larceny of cattle. The court heard that on May 4, the complainant tied his ram, valued at about $40,000, out for feeding in a meadow. Gibbs reportedly untied the goat and ran off with it. The court heard that the owner caught up with him and he ran, leaving the animal. It was retrieved and a report made to the police, which resulted in Gibbs being charged with larceny. He is to be sentenced on June 8. - R.T. |
