International recording artiste Tasha T recently visited the island to participate in the 12th annual Read Across Jamaica Bus Tour.

Travelling with other members of the Read Across Jamaica team, including the organisation's CEO, Janice Wisdom, Tasha T visited a number of schools throughout the island, including Portsmouth and Harbour View primary, Hope Valley Experimental, St Benedict's Catholic, and Sankofa School in St Thomas.

During the trips, Tasha T and other members of the team conducted reading sessions for children.

"We were warmly received by the students and teachers at all the schools. Reading for them and interacting with them was an awesome experience," she said.

All the schools visited by the Read Across Jamaica Team were given donations of books and other school supplies.

Since 2003, the Read Across Jamaica Literacy Project has served more than 25,000 students and provided in excess of 50,000 books and school supplies to children in Jamaica.

"I was selected to be the ambassador for Read Across Jamaica in 2011, and I am very happy to be a part of this organisation. Read Across Jamaica has been doing a great job of promoting literacy in Jamaica for the last 12 years," said Tasha T.

Tasha T also did a number of media interviews.

"My schedule was very hectic, but I was able to squeeze in a couple of interviews. I did E Prime on TVJ and I also appeared on CVM @ Sunrise. I did some work with Sly & Robbie at their One Pop Studio and recorded a song on Ralston Barrett's 'Village' rhythm at Anchor Studios," said the artiste.
