Popular dancer John Bling has been a prominent figure on the dancehall scene for several years. A protégé of Bogle, the dancer rose to prominence at the Duttyz Fridayz, Passa Passa and Weddy Weddy series, along with his Black Blingerz dance crew.

Dancing declined after 2010's Tivoli incursion. However, John Bling through his 'We Are The Dance Movement' was able to facilitate unity among several rival dancers, as well as encourage dancers to find alternative means to expose their talents.

The dancer recently made is acting debut in the movie Jamaican Mafia, which stars internationally renowned actor Paul Campbell, and also appeared at several events overseas promoting his dance moves as well as representing the dancing community as an ambassador.

"I worked hard for the respect and return of dancing back to the forefront of dancehall. It brings tears to my heart just to see the results of my vision and Jah's promises fulfilling," he said.

Going up against John Bling in the Male Dancer/Group of the Year category are Ding Dong and Ravers Clavers, Kreecha, Shady Squad, Elite Team and Card Unit.

Performers on the show will include Spice, Demarco, Chi Ching Ching, I-Octane, Ding Dong, Ishawna, Elephant Man, Voicemail, Bugle, Gaza Slim, Kalado, Ikaya, Kevin Downswell, Omari and others.

The Star Awards and Free Concert is sponsored by the Urban Development Corporation, Boom Energy Drink, Pride of Jamaica, CB Chicken, Bad Dawg Sausages, Sugabuzz and the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation.
