Wynter leaves for T&T International

Katherine Wynter

Katherine Wynter, Jamaica's number one female badminton player, will depart the island today for the Trinidad and Tobago International tournament.

Wynter, who participated in the Jamaica International 2015 in March, will play several tournaments on the Pan American circuit this year in a bid to improve her ranking by the end of this year.

Technical director Howard Ranger stated that she has the opportunity to benefit from a good draw, and he is hopeful that she will go far in the tournament.

"I have a pretty good chance of passing the first two rounds and I am looking forward to at least a quarter-final placement." Wynter said. "This year, I plan to participate in as many tournaments as possible so that I can improve my world ranking to be within the top 200. My ultimate goal is to participate in the Olympics in 2020."

The Trinidad and Tobago International serves off on May 21, and Wynter will face off against Trinidadian Kamasha Robertson.
