Men accused of sexual assault freed |
|||||
Rasbert Turner, Star Writer Three St Catherine men who were accused of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl five years ago, were freed in the St Catherine Circuit Court last Friday. Those freed are Oneil Grayson, Rohan Coley and Dennis Mayne. Discrepancies Attorneys Earl Hamilton, Donald Bryan and Natalya Heywood-Blake revealed discrepancies during the men's three -day trial. The defence made a no-case submission which was upheld by the Crown. Justice Crescentia Brown-Beckford then ordered the jury to return a formal verdict of not guilty. The Crown led evidence that the complainant was at home in Old Harbour when she went to use an outside pit latrine and she was sexually assaulted by the three accused, who were then teenagers. The matter was reported to the police and,
following an investigation, Mayne was charged with carnal abuse while Grayson and Coley were charged with indecent assault. |
