Still no sign of missing school bus

There is still no sign of the missing Guys Hill High School bus which was reportedly stolen from the school last week Thursday.

Principal of the institution, Joan Davis, said she has heard no updates about the stolen bus, which is not even a year old yet.

"The bus is still missing," she said.

The principal recounted that she received a telephone call enquiring whether the bus, which was seen early on the road that morning, had been on official school business.

"I jumped up and I realised the bus wasn't there. I told the person no, it was too early for the bus to be heading out," she said.

The principal pointed out that the caller also told her they saw the bus heading in the direction of Linstead.

Consulting with the school's surveillance system, the principal discovered that four men had scaled a wall and cut the lock from where the bus was parked, before pushing it out of the school's premises down a hill.

The principal is of the opinion that there is a car stealing ring in the area.

However, when contacted, head of the St Catherine North Police Division, Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth, said that investigations are ongoing.

As for the suggestion of a car stealing ring, the senior policeman said, "I can't speak for it being in the Guys Hills area. We know that we would have recovered vehicles in there, we know that we would have seen operations in the area, but as to a ring, I can't speak to that definitively."
