STAR Awards nominees

OMARI

BLING DAWG

He was off the scene for some time, but with an amazing year in 2014, Bling Dawg rose back to the forefront of dancehall and that was followed by a nomination in the STAR Awards.

Bling Dawg was nominated in the 'Collaboration of the Year' category for his song Kreech that featured Kreecha. For that nomination, Bling Dawg is grateful.

"It is a good thing 'cause a lot of work put in, a lot of sleepless nights. Win or lose, it is great to be in a category with some many great songs," he told THE WEEKEND STAR.

The other nominees are Legendary by Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, Who Knows by Chronixx and Protojé, Want Dem All by Sean Paul and Konshens and Way Up Stay Up (Remix) by Chi Ching Ching, Popcaan and Beenie Man.

But Bling Dawg has not stopped at Kreech, as he recently released Aji Bounce which is a song about a dance move created by Aji. He added that he also produced the Column rhythm that should be released next week with songs from Marcia Griffiths, Iba Mahr, Busy Signal, I-Candy, Bling Dawg, Morgan Heritage, Sizzla and Romain Virgo. Bling Dawg will perform at THE STAR Awards on May 30.

OMARI

Singer Omari has been quite a staple in gospel music and crossed several boundaries with songs like Why and Help.

Having been nominated in the 'Gospel Artiste of the Year' category, Omari says this new development serves as encouragement to bring more souls to God.

"Mi just give glory to God. I am really grateful and happy for the nomination. It just encourage me to make good music and music that will last a lifetime. I will continue to make music to inspire and lead people to God," he told THE STAR.

He said he is currently working on a double album that will be released before the end of the year.

Omari added that he has also gone into event planning and will be hosting the Kingston Jerk and Gospel Music Festival on October 19.

Omari is one of the performers at THE STAR Awards on May 30.
