Headlines 'Dub Love' at Red Bones

Music lovers are in for a real treat with the arrival of a special kind of event called 'Dub Love' on May 29 at the Red Bones Jazz & Blues Café.

"It is a chance to experience something that has somewhat been lost in our culture, but is now seeing a resurgence. Dub music is global and we need to accept that reggae is the founding father of several genres," said producer Vivian Thomas.

Dub is a genre of electronic music which grew out of reggae music in the 1960s, and is commonly considered a sub-genre though it has developed to extend beyond the scope of reggae.

Dub Love will feature a trio of great performers with the Rastafarian firebrand Lutan Fyah spearheading the show.

"My partners and I believed it was time we showed how eclectic our genre is and the various forms of entertainment we have to offer. The entertainment and music community has supported the venture and its sponsors are actual musicians, producers, publicist and writers," Thomas said.

The event is promoted and hosted by Push A Yute Productions, the same organisers and promoters that brought Fuzed, the critically acclaimed eclectic series of acoustic showcases.

The event will also showcase the talented poets Meeka Nyota & Steppa. Steppa, a Suncity radio host, has risen to stardom since the Obama visit and seems to have a captivating audience within the dub circuit circles. Meeka Nyota is working on her solo EP, due out this summer.
