Phed X prepares to shoot video

New York-based Guyanese dancehall artiste Phed X, dropped into Ocho Rios recently to prepare for the shooting of the video for Dancehall Time, a collaboration with Gully Bop.

The collab, which is actually a remix of Phed X's original song that was released in January, is on the World Dance rhythm, produced by Mark Wilcott and distributed by VP Records.

The remix was released in late February and has been doing well, hence the video shoot, Phed X said.

"It's doing very well on SoundCloud, it's doing very, very well," Phed X toldThe weekend Star.

The original track was actually doing ok, but the remix has put the song at another level, he explained.

"The beat is what captured Gully Bop and the message too. It has a real nice vibe to it."

The response to the track has boosted Phed X's confidence as he seeks to firmly establish himself in the dancehall fraternity.

"This latest project gives me great hope so I come out to shoot the video, make some more links and move forward with my musical career."

Phed X has been in the music business from mid-90s as a selector for on his own sound system, Murder Love, out of New York.

He hopes to drop two more singles then an album later this year and then push for a place on the line-up of Sting 2015 in December.
