![]() ![]() Hailey Grey GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer Name: Hailey Grey Church: Irwin Seventh-day Adventist, St James. Position: Deputy adventurer director and Adventist Youths secretary. How long have you been saved? I have been saved for six years. How did you get your conviction? My conviction came three years after being in the church. I was a bit lukewarm. I realised I was that way, and knew I had to do something in order to change that lukewarm attitude. I decided I would pull up my socks up, so to speak, in terms of my Christian life. That was exactly when my conviction came about. What has been the most challenging moment since getting saved? My most challenging moment since getting saved was in 2013. I was trying to acquire a job. I kept praying for a job and had numerous disappointments. I was out of school and needed a job, but could not find one. However, I did not cease praying. I would pray in the morning, mid-day and at other times. Being an Adventist made it difficult for me to get a job, because most jobs wanted me to work on a Saturday. I kept praying and then just stopped worrying about it. I knew once I prayed about it, God would have answered. Eventually it worked out well for me. What has been the most miraculous moment since getting saved? I had a friend who was going through a period of weakness as a Christian. He was having a problem, to which we thought there was no solution. I kept praying for him and, one summer, he went abroad. After being there for two weeks, I sent him a text message to find out how he was doing. He told me he heard a sermon, which convinced him to get rid of his weakness. He told me he was converted. That was really a miracle. I have a friend who was having a difficulty getting pregnant and I prayed for her. A week later, she told me she was pregnant. Message to Christians: The devil is out to get you, once you are a Christian. There is no Christian who should have an easy pathway. If you are having an easy pathway, then it means something is wrong. Hold on to God, no matter the challenges or temptations you are facing. God is merciful and, despite the temptations, He will make a way. All the tests you are going through, someone has already gone through them. Every trial and temptation that will come your way, God has already made a way for you to go through them. Message to non-christians: You are missing out. There is nothing in the world that is better than serving God. It does not matter how you may party, drink, and all of that;,there is always going to be this empty feeling. There is always going to be this feeling for something else. So, my message is, come in, join the church and experience salvation. Surrender to the Lord and He will satisfy all your needs.
