RUNJOHNNY RUN has the handicaps and draw in his favour to make all the running in tomorrow's 1000-metre straight overnight allowance race.

Drawn widest and lightest in the 13-horse field, carrying 46.0 kilos, RUNJOHNNY RUN might be up in class, but has so much going for him that he could slip the field and last home.

The six-year-old horse held his gallop well enough against LADY SHANKARI at 1100 metres on April 4. Carrying 110lb, RUNJOHNNY RUN led speedy LADY SHANKARI to the furlong pole before weakening into fifth. Despite carrying the splits, he was only two and three- quarter lengths away at the end.

disqualified

LADY SHANKARI was disqualified after passing the post in front, but returned to frank the form last Saturday. She brushed down-in-class SUNLIGHT EXPRESS off the lead and stayed on for a strong win at 1000 metres round.

SUNLIGHT EXPRESS is among a quartet of speedsters RUNJOHNNY RUN will have to contend with. Heading the list is down-in-class RIO COBRE, who has topweight 57.0 kilos and the task of breaking from post-position one. Others expected to test RUNJOHNNY RUN up front are FORCE DE JOUR, JANIBOUTICE and WOMAN IS BOSS.

However, none are as light as RUNJOHNNY RUN, the closest being WOMAN IS BOSS at 50.0 kilos, still 10lb heavier than her better-drawn rival.

featherweight

What he might lack in class, RUNJOHNNY RUN should remedy by his featherweight and great draw, which allows apprentice Marc Griffiths the ability to gauge the six-year-old on the lead as he will have a sweeping view of the entire field.

With 101lb in his back, RUNJOHNNY RUN should float on to the main track, on the firmer stands' side, before using his speed and light impost to cripple his pursuers over the last two furlongs.

Weight tells inside the last half furlong of any race, which is where RUNJOHNNY RUN will be accelerating with 46.0 kilos while his used-up and heavier rivals should be on the retreat.

Gary Subratie's decision to have WAHEED NAJMAH bypass the 10-furlong Oaks should have her fresh and ready to wire rivals in the 1200-metre ninth race. She chased MOM'S STUDENT, PUDDY POOH and NICOLE before flattening out on the home turn in last month's 1000 Guineas - clearly not enjoying the wet track that afternoon.
