|||||
![]() Chris Binnie All Jamaica and Caribbean Men's Squash Champion, Chris Binnie has scored a sponsorship deal with manufacturing and distribution giants, Wisynco which will see him promoting the Wata brand. The squash sensation will now train and compete in Wata-branded sports gear, promoting the Wata and Cran Wata product lines at all local and regional competitions as well as international tournaments on the Professional Squash Association (PSA) tour. In return, Binnie will receive monetary compensation as well as a generous supply of Wata products for hydration during training and competition. The financial support comes as the five-time National and Regional Champion jumped from 144th to 118th in the PSA rankings. This latest ranking puts Binnie within striking distance of the top 100, which is the athlete's main goal for 2015. He placed second in the Rochester Open in New York last month and is now gearing up for the Las Vegas Open from May 14-17. In June, he will head to New Zealand for three tournaments and will return to the region to defend his All Jamaica Men's title in July and his Caribbean Area Squash Association title in August. sponsorship "The sponsorship could not have come at a better time because I have several tournaments coming up that will involve a lot of travelling, so Wisynco's support will allow me to focus on my squash and go after some great results," Binnie said. Francois Chalifour, director of marketing, said, "We are proud of the way he's putting Jamaica's name on the map in a sport that isn't traditionally associated with our country, and we support him as he blazes a trail in uncharted territory." The sponsorship agreement is for one year, in the first instance, with an option to extend.
