'Bashment Granny 3' Mother's day fiesta

File - Keith 'Shebada' Ramsay

The Mother's Day Fiesta event set for Sunday will be the last 'Bashment Granny 3' performance of the play for the next couple of weeks as the production heads back to the United States, and then to the United Kingdom (UK) for eight sold-out shows.

"Shebada is oneof the most successful actors in theatre history. He has sold out every date in the US with Bashment Granny 3. He just returned to the island this week to do the Mother's Day Fiesta. Then he will fly out on Tuesday morning to do three more US dates, and then the productionwill head to the UK for eight shows, all of which are already sold out," Bunny Allen, one of the principals of BE Entertainment, the producers of the play, said.

"The dates in the United States have been so successful that we have had to do two performances instead of the original single performance based onthe sheer demand for the show. This is a huge hit."

Bashment Granny 3 will play alongside a new play called Praya Partner at the Police Officers' Club, Hope Road on Sunday.

"It is great value for money because Bashment Granny is already a huge hit, and the new play, Praya Partner, is highly entertaining, so this is a great deal for mothers," Allen revealed.

New reggae sensation Ifidel Williams, whose cover of Thinking out Loud, is a huge hit on local FM radio, will also perform on the night.

Since its birth in 2007, Bashment Granny has been box office gold, launching the career of Keith 'Shebada' Ramsay and playing to packed theatres all across Jamaica and the Jamaican diaspora in the US and the UK. The sequel was even more successful with more than 100 performances overseas and 200 performances locally.

Fast-forward to the year 2014 - the franchise has not lost any of its currency with local fans, and with the hilarious Bad Boy Trevor and the crew, this play is a sure laugh riot.

Praya Partner has a high-powered cast that features award-winning actors, Michael 'Stringbean' Nicholson, Suzette Barrett and David Tulloch.

"It will be a scintillating night of entertainment, great comedy, great music; it is a night that mom will remember and appreciate," Allen said.
