Mink Jo set to take jamaica by storm |
|||||
![]() Contributed - Mink Jo Leighton Levy, Star Writer The Jamaican musical scene just got a fresh new injection of talent in the form of a talented young singer called Mink Jo. This fresh new act, described as the first lady of the Brand New Machine (BNM) camp, has released her debut single called No Friend Zone which will provide the platform from which she intends to be propelled to stardom. The single was launched recently at the CRU bar on Lady Musgrave Road in Kingston. The song that is available in iTunes also features the vocals of reggae/dancehall star Konshens, is a smooth blend of dancehall and hip hop, and is already enjoying rotation on local radio stations. The rising star has also dropped a new song produced by international dancehall star Sean Paul and titled Roll Up. This song, which is on the Full Speed rhythm, has also started to gain traction in the local radio market. "I am loving the feedback and support I have been getting for No Friend Zone and I am hoping for the same with Roll Up," the attractive young singer told THE weekend STAR. "My journey has just begun and I can't wait to show the world what Mink Jo has to offer," she continued. The journey officially began in 2014 when she was signed by BNM, but it really began back when she was a student of Excelsior High School, a couple years earlier, when she would secretly 'borrow' her sister's laptop to record her songs and post them on Sound Cloud. Those songs caught the attention of Farenizzi of BNM, who eventually signed her to the label. Three months later, they gave birth to No Friend Zone which was produced by Dre Day. Now that she has been unleashed upon the industry, there are plans to shoot a video for No Friend Zone this summer, when the reggae/dancehall loving public will also get to hear more from Mink Jo as she releases her first EP which will bear more fresh, exciting sounds from the talented young singer.
