Man accused of making calls denies claims Chad Bryan, Staff Reporter A man claiming to be a 'dunce' has denied that he threatened announcers on a popular gospel radio station sometime last week. On Saturday, an announcer said on air that other announcers on the station have been receiving threatening messages. The managing director told THE STAR on Sunday "As it relates to the female announcer, he said he was going to rape and kill her. He told the male announcer he was going to shoot and kill him." The managing director, who is also an announcer, said that reports were made to the Half-Way Tree Police station, but that nothing had been done about the matter. He even stated the phone number of the caller on air from which the threats were being received. When contacted about the incident, the man allegedly behind the threats claimed that he had no knowledge of doing so and also stated that he could neither read nor write. "I do not know anything about that. I am a dunce, I can't even read. I did not send any threat," he said. He claimed that he was also getting messages about the alleged threats. He also claimed that he would be contacting the network provider in order to find out what was going on with his phone. Meanwhile, when the Half-Way Tree Police Station was contacted on the matter, they said they were not aware of any reports made by the radio station. To this, the managing director said, "We called them. We were told to bring it there. The phone itself was also taken to the station. Even right now we have the phone at the station with additional threats." |
