Painful Beauty

They say beauty comes with pain and, damn, if I never knew before, it's really true.

I was getting my nails done by Constant Spring Road and, man, I waah bawl!

The way some of these nail techs handle your poor fingers at times, you swear them and the finger dem at war or in malice! Ladies, be honest; a lie mi a tell?

No man, unuh talk di truth! It's like you paying them to brutalise your cuticles. LOL!

I know some men can agree if they get manicures. Suh what, men mustn't fix up dem self to? Watch ya! You should get a manicure even two time for the month 'cause some of you walking around with yam hill in your nails!

Mi tell you people before, my mouth nuh pitch nuh tent, enuh. I will tell you just how I see it!

Anyways, when I stepped in the salon - of course the greetings were warm and welcoming, but the attitude that followed, I wasn't prepared for. I needed a refill, so I asked what the price was for such a service. Don't call me cheap, it's been over a year since I did my nails and I know salon prices change like the price of patty.

The boss lady there took me to her nail tech, told her what to do and showed me where to sit. She was all cordial and nice until she started to do my nails.

"Is who do your nails? Where yuh did dem? Is wah dem use?"

Lawd jeesas, afta I neva come to play 21 questions!

I explained to her I just needed to get a fill done and leave, ASAP! When I told her I had on gel polish, we were back to 21 questions, smh! She went to call her boss to see if she needed to charge more, because shi neva know seh a gel mi have and "dis (my nails) gonna take a long time".

At that point, I was getting confused and irritated, 'cause you offering a service which you are being paid for ... . What is the problem? State your price and stop the damn conplaining! I asked her what the policy is when she applies gel polish to someone's finger and the person returns.

She couldn't even answer. She was still complaining about how much time it was going to take. She questioned if she should charge me "likkle bit (of money) 'cause dis a whole heap a wuk"!

I'm sure anyone who has been to another nail tech has experienced this ... . They all complain about the other person's work and, no surprise, they believe the other person never does a good enough job! What's worse is that they themselves never did a better job. Smh!

I told her to do my nails and not worry about the money. I was ready to leave. At one point, I felt as if I was going tell her not to be

bothered. I was ready to go somewhere else, but I had a long journey ahead so I needed to be done quickly.

Overall, she did fair job. I tipped her $500.

I didn't tip her because she did an excellent job or for good customer service. I did it because that would be the last $500 she would ever get from me.

This fly that pitched on her wall will not be going back to her place of business.

She gets a thumbs down for her very poor customer service and bad attitude.

Don't ever complain about your work to your customer. Make your price, then work for it like you deserve it. People work hard for their money. When they come to get pampered, it's all they are paying for!

People, if you agree, nod your head, lol ... and if you don't, oh well.

Some of you will always be hypocrites.

Until next time, bless up unuh self and live good with one another!
