80's era rocked Dancin' Dynamites |
|||||
![]() Davina Henry, Staff Reporter The super seven were in top form over the weekend at the Charles Chocolate Dancin' Dynamites contest. With the remaining teams continuing the trend of partnering with former dance groups, excitement was in the air as they tried to dominate the challenge - the '80s dancehall vibe. Up first was Garrison Youths, who partnered with Dustville Dancers. They started off the night with a bang, bringing back memories of '80s dancehall era with their bandanas and rolled-up pants. Judge Kerry Ann Henry stated that it was a very good start to the show, and rewarded them with a score of 9 out of 10. Guest judge Casey Perue added that the routine had great entertainment value, and also gave them a 9. They were followed by D Squad and former contestants Card Unit. Known for their theatrics and high-energy performance, they did not disappoint this week, and worked well as a combined team. They were commended for this by Henry, who rewarded them with a 9, while judge Orville Hall stated that he loved the risks taken, and also gave them a 9. on-point choreography The night certainly belonged to Endevarous and Nah Laugh, who had audience members beating pot covers and sounding vuvuzelas. Their dance moves, coupled with their on-point choreography, had all three judges rewarding them 10, along with a $10,000 sectional prize courtesy of Charles Chocolate. Iona High certainly picked up speed, while being paired with Flava Expressions. Henry noted that they have grown, while Hall commended them for the routine, stating that it was the strongest he had ever seen them. Black Eagles and Problem Squad also put on a great show but were one point short of the $10,000 prize for full marks. Str8 Edge and Untouchable Squad were also in good form, but had a few glitches in their routine. They made way for Dominant Nation and Overload Skankaz, who had the audience on their feet and the judges singing their praises. They, too, were given top marks and $10,000 courtesy of title Sponsors Charles Chocolate. |
