![]() Fitzroy Glispie ... trainer of TIMEFORARMS. - File Jimmie, STAR Racing Writer TIMEFORARMS suffered interference leaving the gate and had a rough passage down the backstretch last Saturday when losing by two lengths to DEO VOLENTE. Trainer Fitzroy Glispie has brought back the six-year-old gelding in tomorrow's third event at 1500 metres, hoping to quickly make amends. Sent off as the 9-5 favourite last Saturday, TIMEFORARMS was among horses packed in at the start as BORDER LINE left post-position nine to bear down on rivals on his inside. With the 1300-metre trip already shorter than he would have liked, TIME FOR ARMS lost ground in a stuttered start. When he recovered and improved into a good position, he was again hampered between horses, RED FLAG and BUTLER CABIN, four and a half furlongs out, and had to be taken in hand. Meanwhile, DEO VOLENTE enjoyed a trouble-free trip on the outside to tackle leaders AMICABLE and SUNLIGHT EXPRESS on the home turn. After straightening sixth, TIME FOR ARMS closed best up the lane to grab second a half furlong out from BUTLER CABIN but super-fit DEO VOLENTE had already flown the coop. Back among overnight allowance company tomorrow, TIMEFORARMS' main threat is Lawrence Freemantle's MILITARY MOVE, who himself was beaten at the level by RAGING PROSPECT on May 11. Freemantle's gelding is at his best going two turns where he last won on September 6, beating PRINCESS SHINE and ROYAL VIBES by an easy four lengths in the Kenneth Mattis Trophy. However, since returning to overnight allowance this year, MILITARY MOVE has been beaten in three consecutive races out of the mile chute, having not been presented with his favoured two-turn events. In races out of the chute, MILITARY MOVE comes up against superior speed in which he is unable to control the pace, as opposed to facing slower horses on the circuit course. Whenever he gets used up in the pace out of the chute, he falls victim to run-on horses. That should again be the case as HOLOGRAM SHADOW comes in at 51.0 kilos after his recent win at a mile in 1:39.3. Albeit racing among claimers, his backstretch splits were rich, 23.3, 46.0 and 1:11.0 in a seven-length runaway victory. TIME FOR ARMS should enjoy sitting off the expected speed duel before making his charge off the home turn. His grade-one pace and experience, which saw him placing fourth in last year's Governor General's Stakes and fifth in the Superstakes, should overpower the speedsters in the stretch run. |
