The IAAF/BTC World Relays Bahamas 2015 rules have been put in place to ensure that nobody capitalises on a marketing deal or create havoc at the event. Local organising committee (L0C) legal adviser Drumeco Archer said during a recent press conference that 'ambush marketing,' which consists of unauthorised marketing, promotional and public relations activities related directly or indirectly to the event or the organisation, will not be tolerated. "These unauthorised activities give the impression that the event organiser has endorsed the relevant goods and services," Archer said. "This is illegal. The general public is advised that in the following instances, ticket holders will be denied access into the stadium, if clothing that is passed off as the official brand of clothing gets into the stadium, for the purpose of ambush marketing, will be stopped." With Adidas as the official IAAF sponsor of clothing, Archer said no other company will be allowed to sell any such products and in the case of any other official sponsor, no one will be allowed to sell any other product that will be in direct competition. LOC director of security, James Carey, advised the public to ensure that they give themselves ample time to get to the stadium before the event starts so that they can go through the firm security process. "Everybody entering the stadium will be screened and if necessary they will be searched," Carey said. Carey also noted there is a list of prohibited items and these items will not be allowed inside the stadium. |
