Mother's Day Fiesta set for May 10

Theatre fans are eagerly anticipating the new Mother's Day Fiesta event as 'Bashment Granny 3', one of the most popular local play franchises in recent memory, will play alongside a new play, 'Praya Partner', at Police Officer's Club, Hope Road, on May 10.

"It is great value for money because Bashment Granny is already a huge hit, and the new play, Praya Partner is highly entertaining, so this is a great deal for mothers," said Bunny Allen, one of the principals of BE Entertainment which is producing the plays.

Packed theatres

New reggae sensation Ifidel Williams, whose cover of Thinking Out Loud, is a huge hit on local FM radio, will also perform on the night.

Since its birth in 2007, Bashment Granny has been box-office gold, launching the career of Keith 'Shebada' Ramsay and playing to packed theatres all across Jamaica and the Jamaican diaspora in the United States and the United Kingdom.

The sequel was even more successful with more than 100 performances overseas and 200 locally.

Fast-forward to 2014, the franchise has not lost any of its currency with local fans. With the hilarious Bad Boy Trevor and the crew, the play is a sure laugh riot.

The Praya Partner has a high-powered cast that features award-winning actor Michael 'String Bean' Nicholson, Suzette Barrett and David Tulloch.

"It will be a scintillating night of entertainment, great comedy, great music. It is a night that mom will remember and appreciate," Allen said.
