True dancehall fans will remember veteran deejay Jonathan Wolfman of Stereo One sound system, who carved out a great career in the 1980s. Meet the 21st century upgrade, dancehall deejay Howard 'Wolfman' Dalrymple. The new Wolfman grew up in central Kingston. Residing in the Tel Aviv community, he developed a love for music after hearing The Untouchables sound system playing. He attended Holy Trinity High School, honing his skills during impromptu lunchtime concerts. He saved his lunch money, bought records and studied different deejaying styles. He went through numerous name changes until a chance meeting with a girl gave him the name under which he performs today. "I was calling to a sexy girl on the road, who was not polite. She replied, saying, she doesn't talk to werewolves, because my sideburns were plenty. That is when my friends endorsed the name and began calling me Wolfman," he said. He has performed at local community stage shows, and major shows such as West Kingston Jamboree in Tivoli Gardens and Fireworks on the Waterfront. "My style of music is conscious music. I make the kind of music that both kids and adults can enjoy. My music teaches and heals the soul," he said. Wolfman has released songs such as Love And Peace, No War No Gun and Gal Put Up Yu Hand. His latest single, Resolution, has been getting excellent rotation on stations such as Bess FM, Suncity Radio and Roots FM. "Mi waan big up Smurf, Matrixx, Dalton Leith, Rodercik Howell, DJ String and DJ Bartley, from Roots FM, and DJ Pedro and DJ Jacko, from Bess FM, for their continued support with the song," he said. The single is being distributed by 21st Hapilos Digital Distribution.
