Leroy Brown, STAR Writer It will be an all Jamaica clash in the Wray and Nephew Contender preliminaries at the Chinese Benevolent Association auditorium tonight, when Ricardo Planter and Anthony Osbourne clash over six rounds, in a bid for a quarter-final spot. Planter should have fought Winston Pompey from Suriname, but Pompey injured his foot recently and is unable to make the fight date. The action starts at 8.30 p.m. with two amateur bouts, and the main bout, which will be televised by TVJ, starts at 9.30 p.m. Spectators will see an action-packed fight tonight, as both men like to throw punches. Planter stated earlier this week that he has a score to settle, as they met before in 2012, and Osbourne won by unanimous decision. He plans to turn the tables tonight. "It will be a battle from round one, but my hand will be raised at the end," Planter said on Monday. Osbourne on the other hand, said he has only one thing on his mind tonight, and that is "to put a beating" on Planter. "I beat him before, and I will beat him again. It will be an exciting fight, and spectators will have a lot to cheer about," Osbourne said. Osbourne, who is 39, is known as a journeyman in boxing circles, and has a strange- looking record. He has won 10 fights, three by knockout and has lost 38, nine by knockout. He has also had two draws. When questioned about his loss record, Osbourne said that throughout his career he has travelled all over the world to get fights, and as a result, he has had to fight many of his opponents "in their backyards. I have therefore suffered a lot of 'home town' decisions" he declared.
