Charged with felonious wounding is 51-year-old Everton Walters of Graham Street, Kingston 16. The Crown led evidence that the accused man allegedly used an ice pick to inflict a wound to the throat of the complainant, which bled. It is believed that the two had a dispute regarding money, moments before the incident. The complainant was reportedly in hospital for several days for recovery. In court, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey asked the accused if he had been in trouble with the law prior to this alleged incident. "About three times Your Honour," Walters said. "For what?" asked RM Pusey. Previous charges Walters explained that he has previously faced the courts to answer to wounding charges, one of which he was convicted for. The court heard that the accused man served one year in prison, and was released in 2013. The sitting magistrate ordered Walters further remanded until May 12, when he is to reappear for a mention hearing, at which time an outstanding medical report is expected to be complete and
presented. |
