Chess Enterprise's 16th Annual Scholastic Team Championship this weekend

More than 50 teams will be vying for this year's trophies at Chess Enterprise's Scholastic Team Chess Championship for Under 8, Primary/Prep and Junior High level chess players, tomorrow and Sunday on the campus of St George's College.

The event will run all day for both days beginning at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow and 9 a.m. on Sunday. This is the 16th staging of the tournament and will see more than 200 students in school-based teams seeking to dethrone title holders Little People Preparatory, St Catherine Primary and St Jago High School.

Included among the players will be the national age-group chess champions Christopher Udeagha (Under 10) representing St Jude's Primary, and Kishan Clarke (Under 8) representing Hillel Academy.

St Catherine Primary and St Jago High both made history last year by being the first schools outside of Kingston & St Andrew to win the Primary/Prep and Junior High categories, respectively.

Other winners in recent years include St Jude's Primary, Sts Peter and Paul Preparatory, and Campion College.
